Esperance Gold travelled to Condingup in warm and windy conditions for its ladies pennants round.
On rink one the Esperance team of Marilyn Jackson, Ollie Austin, Rosie White and Roz Chapman played a close see-sawing game against the Condingup team of Veronica Mickel, Judy Lithgow, Rebecca Haynes and Sue Browning.
All players contributed to the close game with Esperance Gold able to hold the last two ends to win the game by four shots.
On rink two, the Esperance team of Jan Fiegert, Sarah Bracknell, Edna Barlow and June Mincham started the game well but then sat on nine shots for six ends which allowed the Condingup team of Rachael Young, Dianne Chapman, Sarah Daw and Sue Burgham to gain a handy lead.
Esperance were able to peg back towards the latter part of the game but Condingup held on with Sue Burgham playing excellent bowls, to take the match.
Newcomer Sarah Daw improved during the game.
The outcome being equal shots up by both pennant sides and sharing the pennant points two each.
Esperance Blue v Scaddan
In town the Esperance Blue team were host to Scaddan.
Again a very close game on one rink with the Esperance team of Marg Cahill, Elaine Rule, Carmel McEwan and Fran Norwood doing battle against the Scaddan team of Trish Stone, Judy Patterson, Alison Horley and Marg Vandenberge.
Trish Stone's team proved to be too strong despite excellent bowls from the Esperance team and secured the win by four shots.
On the adjoining rink the Esperance Blue side of Jill Burnside, Margie Rance, Marg Blanchette and Bev Horn had an interesting tussle.
The Scaddan side of Shirlene Ellison, Marg Hesford, Lyn Ietto and Caroline Williams tried hard to keep in touch with some good bowling but their opposition continued to play well.
Despite some great skippers bowls from Ellison, Esperance Blue melded well together to win by five shots.
Results were Esperance Blue three points to Scaddan one point.
