More than 100 people turned out to Pink Lake Country Club’s annual Melbourne Cup celebrations, with a fashion parade by local women’s boutique ‘Woven’.
Woven co-owner Marcela Roberts said it was the first year the store, which opened in August 2016, had participated in the Melbourne Cup fashion parade.
Ms Roberts said the parade was wonderful and ‘very well received’, with great feedback from the community.
“The Country Club chose the models for us which was really fantastic and there were models of different ages and shapes and sizes and everyone looked really beautiful,” she said.
“The crowd loved it.”
Ms Roberts said, as a business, it was ‘extremely important’ to be involved in local events like the fashion parade.
“It’s really important for us to support our local community and we hope the local community will support us as well,” she said.
“The community aspect is huge for us.”
Pink Lake Country Club Melbourne Cup function committee member Julie Starcevich said the fashion parade was very well received and thanked Woven for their participation.
“The food and catering was fabulous and a huge amount of volunteer hours went into the event and it turned out to be a fantastic day,” she said.
Ms Starcevich said Woven donated a number of prizes for both the Best Dressed, which was won by Leanne Johnson, and the Best Hat, won by Jess Fotheringham.
Ms Roberts said the store, which stocks a range of Australian and international brands, has an array of natural fabrics and classic styles for women of all ages, shapes and sizes and staff always happy to assist.
