Local businesses face fines ahead of compliance checks

Employers are being urged to check their workers’ compensation insurance duties following state compliance checks last month.

A series of inspections by WorkCover in the Goldfields-Esperance region found four of the 124 businesses checked did not have a workers’ compensation policy in place.

The businesses now face sanctions of up to $5,000 per worker employed while not insured.
