Esperance Indoor Sports Stadium will get portable flooring before redevelopment

Esperance Indoor Sports Stadium is set to get portable flooring while the community wait for an upgrade recently announced in the State Budget.

The Stadium Management Committee, who put forward the proposal, raised the $47,640 necessary to purchase the modern flooring system.

Esperance Shire president Victoria Brown said while the flooring would give people the opportunity to play on a better surface, it still needed to be rectified. Esperance shire chief executive officer Matthew Scott said he believed the Indoor Sports Stadium Committee also had concerns about what funding the project would receive and immediately worked on a back up plan.

“I suspect... they’ve [committee] been looking at ‘well, what happens if the funding isn’t available? How do we still try and provide some contemporary facilities for the users?’,” he said.

“This is for a court that has actually just got a concrete floor at the moment. Having something other than concrete might help out for that particular court.”
