Esperance Men’s Darts grand final: Warriors victorious

The Warriors Men’s Dart Team have been named the 2017 Premiers after an intense grand final on Saturday, August 19.

After a great season of Esperance Men’s Darts the number one and two teams for the year played off for the Title, with Warriors defeating Sharks six to three.

It was a closely fought battle with Sharks taking the early lead three-nil with Jarrad Curley playing great darts and the Sharks looking formidable in a first to six final, then Warriors got their first Leg on the board with Tony Churchill and Reece Hunt winning their doubles.

That sparked a fight back for the Warriors to win six legs in a row and take the 2017 Premiership.

Fuzzy Ducks defeated Don’t Know six to four to take out the Plate, in another closely fought game.

The 2017 season was full of highlights including: 17 players hitting 180’s, John Martin was the first person in the Esperance league to hit consecutive 180’s in the same game, Wayne Willey with the top Peg of 170, Billy Davies with the highest Season Average of 63.33 per cent, Esperance were invited to play Country Week this year and were up to the challenge just missing out on second place by a count back (Great Effort).

This season saw a high standard of darts thrown, with great sportsmanship and enjoyment.
