Esperance Volunteer Resource Centre reaches out to community

The Esperance Volunteer Resource Centre held a recruitment drive to show the community the wide range of projects available throughout town.

Centre coordinator Erica Austen said there was something for everyone in terms of both interests and how much time they could commit.

“There is a huge variety, it’s only limited by what you want to do,” she said.

“Volunteering is very good for mental health and self esteem. It’s important to support the community, we live here and should contribute.”

Esperance Homecare volunteer supervisor Marion Mitchell said volunteering was flexible and not restrictive, but reliability was key.

“We’re looking for people to assist from two hours a month up to half a day a week, and everything in between,” she said.
