The Esperance Family History Society will be moving from the library over to the Esperance Museum to provide a more accessible location for elderly members of the group.
Family history secretary Fay Armstrong said the move would also allow the group easier access to museum resources and bring them closer to the Esperance Bay Historical Society.
“A lot of our elderly members couldn’t negotiate the stairs anymore, so the move to there will be good because they’ll be able to come back and join back in,” she said.
Ms Armstrong said she hoped to have the group settled at the museum by mid November.
After the move, the group hoped to run workshops with local schools and help students discover their heritage.
“That’s what we’re hoping to do, teach kids a little bit more about history and get them interested in the local history too,” she said.
