Cool and calm conditions for South East Runners’ weekend competition

South East Runners competitors took to the golf course at Pink Lake last Saturday to complete laps of a 1.5km course.

Weather conditions were cool and quite calm - perfect for a run or walk on the hilly course.

Three runners opted for the 4.5km distance, with Richard Brown finishing first, Jamie Toll close behind in second place, and Howard Reddyhough in third. Maureen Dickason was the only walker who elected to complete the longer course, so by default took out first place!

Zoe Maccan put in her usual 100% effort to finish in first place in the 3km run, with Kerry Polkinghorne in second.

Pam Williams was the winner of the 3km walk even, followed by Jessie Eltringham in second, and Donna Maccan in third.

For the shorter distance of 1.5km, Rachel Howe was the winner in the run, with Sam Jefferies in second.

Clare Jefferies was the first walker home, with Candi Toll and Josette Bonnett tying for second place.

Next weekend’s event is back to the flat foreshore, with the start venue adjacent to the Scout Hall on The Esplanade. Start time is 4pm.

Entries are now open for the club’s annual fun run and half-marathon events, which will be held on Sunday, September 24th. Entries can be made online for the Cliffs Community Fun Run at the Register Now website. Paper entry forms will shortly be available at sports stores.
