Nominations are open once again for the Horizon Power Sports Star of the Year awards. The 2017 awards will be held at the Esperance Civic Centre on Saturday November 11.

Club Development Officer Shane Tobin said the Horizon Power Sports Star of the Year awards were a great chance for Club/Associations to show the community what their sport was achieving. As part of the event there is also a Volunteer Service to Sport award which recognises someone withing an organisation who goes above and beyond for their sport.

There is no winner in the Volunteer Service to Sport category as the committee thinks all sport volunteers are winners. As long as the nominations complies with the criteria, it can come from a parent, coach, teammate or friend and not just the club itself.

All winners, with exception to the Service to Sport Award will be selected on their achievements from September 30, 2016 to midnight the September 29, 2017.

There are five award categories:

  • Sports Star of the Year
  • Veteran’s Sports Star of the Year
  • Junior Sports Star of the Year
  • Volunteer Service to Sport Award
  • Sports Team of the Year

Nominations close at 5pm on Thursday October 5. Forms can be located at Rigney & Associates, Bay of Isles leisure Centre, Shire of Esperance website or call Shane Tobin 0418 557 397.
