Tourist crash closes South Coast Highway

Two Japanese tourists crashed on South Coast Highway near Munglinup after trying to overtake a truck on their way from yesterday morning.

The car spun out after the driver saw another truck approaching in the opposite direction and tried to return to the correct lane.

The driver clipped the truck in front of it and spun into the path of the oncoming truck.

The tourists escaped with minor injuries and were taken to Esperance Hospital.

The crash happened at 11:50am on Thursday, March 16.

South Coast Highway was closed in both directions for one hour whilse emergency services dealt with the incident.

The driver was issued a $300 fine for driving without due care and attention.
