Drivers who blow a zero on police breath tests will be able to enter the running for a weekly $50 fuel voucher.
As part of the Blow Zero campaign starting on Monday, March 20, Esperance Police will ask for contact details of drivers who provide a zero alcohol reading when stopped.
Winners will be announced every Friday at 3pm, ending on Good Friday.
Senior sergeant Richard Moore said any initiative to reduce road trauma is a good step forward.
“It is pleasing Esperance Police can reward good driver behaviour and not always be seen to penalise unlawful driving in the lead up to Easter,” he said.
Shire of Esperance president Victoria Brown said the campaign was to encourage safe and responsible driving.
“Please enjoy your Easter with your family and friends this year and Blow Zero when out driving,” she said.
Esperance RoadWise Committee member Tiffany Brown said holidays periods were notorious for being dangerous times to use the roads.
"We are hoping to not only reward good behaviour with this initiative but also raise awareness of safe driving practices in the lead up to Easter,” she said.
