Footage supplied by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services shows the intense moment a fisherman was rescued from a vessel in heavy weather conditions off of Israelite Bay on Sunday night.

The DFES RAC Rescue Helicopter winched the patient, who had sustained serious injuries, off of the vessel at about 6.30pm, before transporting him to Esperance Hospital to be stabilised. 

The helicopter was forced to stop outside Condingup to refuel, as the rescue site was 250km east of Esperance.
