WITH a life-long interest in playing sport, Judy Miles has watched her sporting development grow with previous involvements in basketball, hockey and squash - and now has a concentrated focus on her main love, golf.
Miles grew up in Esperance after arriving in town at the age of five, and with the exception of a five-year break to travel her home country; she has been one of the more long-term members of the Pink Lake Golf Club.
“I first started playing golf around 18 years ago,” she said.
“Golf was my game of choice after I was involved in playing hockey for over 30 years. I felt I needed a more suitable sport and thought I’d try something else.”
Miles played a few games of Ambrose with friends and found herself hooked.
“I loved it, and I’ve met so many people through it,” she said.
Miles said the Christmas period represented the beginning of the summer season, which would be more low key, but giving members the chance to practice in time for the beginning of the winter season in March 2012.
