Divers go for world record

24 Nov, 2010 02:00 AM
ON Thursday December 2 the Esperance Dive Club will join in Diversnight - a worldwide attempt for a new world record in night diving.

Approximately 3,000 divers from all over the world are expected to be underwater at 8.10pm on the first Thursday in December.

Diversnight was started in 2005 to promote the sport of scuba diving, to bring together scuba diving communities from all over the world, and to show how exciting and adventurous the sport is.

While on a diving trip off Phuket in April this year Esperance Dive Club president Rod Hilton met one of the organisers and was invited to participate.

Esperance divers will meet at the Tanker Jetty at 7pm on Thursday December 2 to prepare for the dive. Last year 2,749 divers participated at 218 dive sites in 20 countries. This year Esperance will be included.

All experienced divers are welcome to join in. For further information contact Rod Hilton 0427 710 654 or email esperancediveclub@hotmail.com
