YEAR 8 Esperance Senior High School student Shyanne Thomas is guaranteed to surprise you with her sporting choices.
Shyanne is currently taking part in four sports and devotedly focusing her attention on her favourite sport, cricket, with strong expectations for her sporting future.
She was born in New Zealand and lived there briefly before making the move to Australia. She since moved to Esperance in 2008 and became the Head Girl and Dux at Nulsen Primary School.
Now in her first weeks at high school, Shyanne is sure her timetable cannot include enough Physical Education classes to keep her sporting appetite satiated.
In between a strong focus on weekly cricket training and competition, Shyanne competes in softball, basketball and baseball.
“I play softball for Club Chardy and this is my first season,” she said. “It’s fun to play and I’ve made some new friends.
“It’s awesome competition; my mum and I verse as she plays for Pink Panthers. “Most people go for fun, it’s more of a social than a competitive thing.”
