Rimmers 40 defeated United 39
This game would have had to have been the most exciting game of the season so far. It was high quality basketball with United getting the jump on Rimmers and running away with a huge lead at half time. It was a fast flowing game with Roger Parsons and Dave Mackenzie scoring the majority of the points for United and Karl Gurney playing well for his team.
The second half was an entirely different game with United players all tiring and Rob Howland taking it upon himself to get Rimmers back in the game. Howland not only got his team back in the game he got them in front and in a very exciting finish Rimmers went on to steal the game by 3 points.
Highest scorers – Rob Howland (R) 15 points, Ray Woort (R) 10 points, Pete Griffiths (U) 13 points, Roger Parsons (U) 13 points.
Mustangs 38 defeated Rimmers Young 33
Another close game between these two teams with Mustangs through the accurate shooting from Duncan McKenzie kept Rimmers at bay by a couple of points. Jamie Phoebe has an uncanny knack of weaving between players and he went on to score 8 points in the first half in this way keeping his team in touch with the Mustangs. The second half was goal for goal with Mustangs able to keep their noses in front by a couple of points until the closing minutes when Rimmers found themselves in foul trouble and Mustangs getting two free shots and then a 3 pointer from Sean Green sealed the game for them as they went on to win by 5 points.
