ESPERANCE girl Karra Scrimgeour made it through to the next heat of the national Miss Hawaiian Tropic Contest in Bunbury last month.
The 21-year-old has never competed before but still managed to get a spot in the next heat, which is to be held on December 11.
Event spokesperson and director of Classique Model Management, Tamara Herring, said that Ms Scrimgeour did very well for her first competition.
“She has a nice smile and shows some personality on stage so that all helps,” she said.
If she makes it through the next heat, Ms Scrimgeour will have the opportunity to travel to the Gold Coast and compete against other Australian beauties.
Ms Scrimgeour, who is a hairdresser, said that entering this type of a competition was something that she has always wanted to do.
“I was the only one who was not a model as all the other girls have done competitions before,” she said.
There were three categories that she had to undertake which included swimwear, nightwear and a sponsor’s dress.
“I had no idea and thought there was going to be nothing to it, but there was a whole routine that we had to learn for about an hour and a half before the event.
“We were judged by three judges on our walk, music choice and body,” she said.
“I would like to keep up with this and see where it takes me.”
She said she would love to feature in Ralph Magazine.
