ESPERANCE teenagers looking for something fun and affordable to do these holidays might enjoy jumping off a cliff or getting lost in the bush with the Adventure Program for Esperance (APE).
Aimed at high-school students, and provided by the Gum Tree Christian Fellowship, APE offers a range of skill-building, challenging, and rewarding activities to help beat the boredom over the holidays.
On Monday, July 6, teen-apers will have the chance to spend the day abseiling and orienteering.
Gum Tree pastor, Wazza Harvey, said abseiling was a huge hit last school holidays.
“We’ll be abseiling off Dempster Head. It’s a lot of fun, and we’ve managed to reduce the cost significantly, which will give more people the opportunity to come along.
“We have also included some orienteering activities during the day as well.”
On Wednesday, July 8, teen-apers will be getting wet and going wild – spending the morning sand-boarding and the afternoon at the Leisure Centre.
“We’ll be heading out to the dunes for some sand-boarding,” Mr Harvey said.
“If you’ve got your own boards, bring them along – otherwise we will provide some boards. Afterwards we’re off to the Leisure Centre to spend some time in the heated pool.”
Friday, July 10, will give participants a chance to play some adventure games out at Lake Monjingup.
“It will be a challenging and good fun day out. We’ll be playing games that most people probably haven’t played before.”
Sunday, July 12, will see an APE wind-up barbecue at a mystery location.
“APE is a great way to kill boredom, have fun and learn some new skills. There really is no excuse to be bored these school holidays.”
The abseiling and orienteering day costs $10, while all other activities are $5.
