School starts

03 Feb, 2012 04:00 AM
ESPERANCE Christian Primary School (ECPS) kindergarten students were so keen to get inside the classroom and begin their schooling careers that they almost forgot to unpack their bags at the door.

Twenty new kindy students started at ECPS in 2012 and were animated with the prospects of learning to write, paint and play.

New student Corey Haley said he was excited to finally be at school and spent a few eager moments playing with a toy truck.

Castletown Primary School resumed on Wednesday with 137 new pupils.

School principal Pauline Grewar said the first day of school was often harder for the parents than the children, who quickly made new friends and got on with playing.

“The parents often seem more anxious about leaving their children than the children do about being left,” she said.

New enrolments have increased on previous years, which Ms Grewar said was good news for the school.
