Major local power cut

03 Feb, 2012 01:00 AM
AN unplanned power cut stopped Esperance in its tracks on Wednesday morning.

The electricity supply across the town was interrupted at 8.10am and restored at 9.30am.

According to Horizon Power, the interruption to the power supply was the result of a power generation failure at the Esperance power station.

Horizon Power Community and Customer Relations Manager Rachel Clarke said that most people in and around Esperance were without power.

“Power cuts like this are a rare occurrence but unfortunately approximately 7,000 Horizon Power customers were without power in Esperance, Salmon Gums, Condingup and Munglinup,” she said.

Nice to see nothing much has changed. I have never known a place to lose power as much as Esperance does. If it rains power goes out, if a thunderstorm hits, power goes out. This doesn't happen over in the Eastern states. It has to be a big storm to knock out the power unlike it does in Esperance.
