ADULT Learners Week is coming up at the Esperance Library, giving adults a chance to learn new skills through a variety of free workshops from September 1-8.
This year’s workshops range from learning how to use Facebook and eBay, how to manage your finances, and a basic drawing workshop.
Librarian Jayne Arnold said a workshop on managing your carbon footprint would be a highlight, with an expert from Horizon Power, Darrell Jones, travelling from Perth to hold the workshop, which will look at ways to reduce your carbon footprint, as well as teach people about Horizon Power’s energy buyback scheme.
A workshop on growing your own fruit and vegetables held at Jode Nursery is also expected to be well received.
“With spring just around the corner it’s a great activity to get into, and it’s much cheaper and healthier than buying your fruit and vegetables,” Ms Arnold said.
She also said she would encourage anyone interested in learning new skills to drop by the Esperance Library and look over the courses available – all of which are free, although bookings are essential.
“They are all great workshops that will teach you skills you can put into practice, and it’s a good excuse to get out and away from the TV for a couple of hours.”
